Pitching Grip Breakdown with Stony Brook Pitching Coach Mike Marron
The Stony Brook Seawolves baseball squad grabbed the attention of the nation during their unprecedented run to the 2012 College World Series.
A big part of that 52 win season was a pitching staff that posted a 3.15 ERA (23rd best in the country). The leader of that staff was pitching coach Mike Marron.
This week, Coach Marron breaks down the pitching grips he uses with his pitchers at Stony Brook. He breaks down the grips and mindset behind the 2 and 4 seam fastballs, slider, and change up (NOT the circle change).
Enjoy this breakdown of the pitches used on one of the best Division 1 pitching staffs in the country. Let me know if you learned anything new/helpful in this week’s video:
Try throwing a new pitch this week and see what happens. Maybe nothing… maybe you find a new weapon.
